Elementary & Middle School Programs

(Grades 3-8)

Grades 3-8 balance academic and social needs in a highly-structured environment. Classes are taught by an experienced, credentialed master teacher and a full-time assistant teacher, and are limited to class sizes of 12 students.

Our rigorous academic curriculum is aligned with California State Standards and includes differentiated instruction designed to meet our students’ specific learning needs. In addition to their academic instruction, students learn skills in organization, study, social communication, coping, and problem-solving. The school day is further enriched by a variety of supportive resources, including:

  • Regular Physical Education (P.E.) classes under the direction of a credentialed Adaptive P.E. Specialist. The structured program of sports and activities helps students develop good sportsmanship and enjoy peer interaction.

  • Weekly scheduled time in the school library, where students receive guidance on using print and internet resources to complete research and assignments, and choose books for personal reading enjoyment.

  • Bi-weekly group art lessons guided by our Art Coordinator. Art projects are often coordinated with classroom curriculum and promote artistic skills, appreciation, and creative exploration.

  • Life skills/cooking projects in the student kitchen, which teach healthy living habits and foster positive group interaction and teamwork.

  • Individual access to multiple forms of technology in the classrooms, in our computer lab, and the library. Students learn and practice computer and research skills and engage in creative projects that utilize technology.

  • Speech & Language services provided by a licensed SLP for those students with identified needs.

  • Counseling provided by a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (MFT) for those students with identified needs.
